The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to rally behind the Armed Forces in their ongoing efforts to combat violent groups and insurgents across the country.
In a statement issued yesterday, General Musa underscored the importance of trust, civic engagement, and the dissemination of responsible narratives as critical components in the fight against insecurity. He emphasized that the success of military operations heavily depends on the support and cooperation of the Nigerian populace.
The Defence Chief also highlighted the danger posed by citizens who inadvertently or deliberately provide space, support, or visibility to insurgents and other criminal elements. He pointed out that insurgency often gains momentum when communities or individuals unwittingly enable insurgents, thereby undermining efforts to restore peace and stability.
General Musa urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid spreading unverified information that could inadvertently aid insurgent propaganda. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to safeguarding the nation and appealed for collective responsibility in ensuring Nigeria remains secure.
