Fed High Court in Porthacourt seals the fate of Sheriff over PDP leadership

The Court presided over by Justice MAKHMUD LIMA granted all the reliefs sought by the PDP-Caretaker Committee led by Senator AHMED MARKARFI, including an order restraining SHERIFF from parading himself as National Chairman of PDP.

Justice LIMA also validated the PDP National Convention held in Port Harcourt on 21st May, stressing that SHERIFF should have attended the convention and moved a motion for it to be suspended, instead of going to the press to make his announcement.

According to Justice LIMA, ALI MODU SHERIFF merely used the postponement of the convention as an alibi to escape disqualification from participating in the convention.

It was also in the view of the court that the PDP Convention in Port Harcourt was properly convened, with the Acting National Chairman, UCHE SECONDUS presiding.

Speaking with newsmen outside the court, the lawyer of the PDP Caretaker Committee, DEJO LAMIKANRA, praised the court for its decision.

Also speaking in an interview with our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA, the Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator BEN said the ruling has laid to rest the leadership controversy in the PDP.

Also present in court yesterday were PDP national spokesman, Senator DAYO ADEYEYE and former Deputy National Chairman, UCHE SECONDUS.

You will recall that ALI MODU SHERIFF had opposed the application and accused the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, AHMAD MARKARFI of impersonation.
