President JOHN MAGUFULI of Tanzania has named a teacher turned parliamentarian, KASSIM MAJALIWA, as the country’s Prime Minister. Reports say the appointment of the little-known MAJALIWA took many political watchers in Tanzania by surprise. Before his latest elevation, the new Prime Minister had been in the parliament for five years, serving as deputy education minister in the previous government.
