2023 Election Faces Cancellation Threat Over Insecurity —INEC

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu made the remark at the validation of election security training resources held in Abuja.

Yakubu noted that the forthcoming election faces serious threat of cancellation, should the insecurity across the country fail to improve.

Represented by the Chairman, Board of Electoral Institute, Abdullahi Zuru, the INEC boss assured Nigerians that the commission would not leave anything to chance in ensuring that intensive and extensive security are provided for election personnel, materials and processes.

Meanwhile; the Independent National Electoral Commission says youths constitute the highest number of registered voters, who would vote in the February and March elections with forty eight million out of the entire ninety three point five million eligible voters.

The INEC commissioner for information and voter education, Festus Okoye, stated this during the commission’s engagement with identified groups on the role of the youth ahead of the 2023 general election.

Okoye explained that the electoral process would be strictly technology-driven, adding that the commission has already deployed technology in all its processes.
