Arturo Vidal says Bayern Munich provide him with the "best opportunity" of winning the Champions League after completing his €40 million move from Juventus.

Vidal - who has signed a contract until 2019 at the Allianz Arena - was part of theJuventus side who were beaten by Barcelona in the final of the competition back in May, while Bayern were knocked out of the tournament in the semi-finals at the hands of the Catalans.

Marseille have announced that they have agreed a deal to sign former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby.

The 29-year-old was released by Arsenal at the end of last season after nine years at the London club in which his progress was severely hampered by injuries.

Jose Mourinho has accused Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez of "destroying the best team in Europe" when the Spaniard replaced him at Inter Milan in 2010.

The Chelsea boss spoke after Benitez's wife joked her husband was "tidying up" another Mourinho "mess" at Real.

The city of Boston and the US Olympic Committee (USOC) have agreed to end a bid for the 2024 Olympics because of a lack of public support.

The bid had faced opposition, with many people concerned that local funds would be used to pay for cost overruns.

Lewis Hamilton admitted he had a "very bad day at the office" after dropping from pole position to finish sixth in the Hungarian GP on Sunday.

Starting from pole position, the world champion fell to fourth place at the first corner after being passed by the Ferraris of Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen as well as Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Sir Dave Brailsford says accusations of doping from pundits and spectators spurred Chris Froome and Team Sky on to victory at the Tour France.

Jerzy Janowicz and Albert Ramos-Vinolas are the highest profile players to win their first-round matches at the Hamburg Open yesterday.

World No 51 Janowicz, the big-serving Pole, defeated Taro Daniel 6-4 6-3 to safely secure his passage into the next round.
