World football governing body FIFA has released a list of fifty-five players that will slug it out for a place in the 2016 World’s Best-Eleven team.

But out of the lot; Ivory Coast's SERGE AURIER who plays for French side, Paris Saint Jermaine, is the only African player on the list, which is expected to be trimmed down to eleven.

The list was drawn with suggestions by twenty-five thousand professional footballers from more than seventy-five different countries.

Each player was asked to select one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.

There are eleven players drawn from Spanish side, Real Madrid, while Italian champions Juventus continued five players.
