The Rivers State branch of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria is worried about the fuel crisis in the state.

The Rivers State branch of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria is worried about the fuel crisis in the state. State Chairman of TUC, CHIKA ONUEGBU said there appears to be a determination by private depot owners to starve Rivers people of petroleum products. ONUEGBU observed that currently the depot owners have shut down but return at night to sell to marketers at exorbitant prices. Following the development, the TUC called on the Department of Petroleum Resources, law enforcement agencies and the Rivers State Government to force the depots open and ensure that the available products are released to petroleum marketers. The union said it was necessary to use force to address the situation since President MOHAMMADU BUHARI has approved about four hundred and thirteen billion naira for the payment of the backlog of subsidy. The Rivers TUC said it was shameful that the petrol depot cartel will subject Nigerians and Rivers people to excruciating pains just because they want to make super profit.
