POLITICAL PRISONERS GET PRESIDENTIAL PARDON IN EQUATORIAL GUINEA

The President of Equatorial Guinea has declared a general amnesty for all political prisoners.

 

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema made the declaration in a decree that was read on national television.

 

The move appears to be in response to a demand by opposition parties for the release of political detainees as one of the conditions for taking part in a national dialogue.
