A recent survey shows that Nigerian doctors applying to practice in the UK increased by ten percent in the past year, which is double the figure for the previous year.

According to the research by Africa Check, which was cited by the BBC, an average of twelve qualified Nigerian doctors signed up to work in the UK every week since last year.

It says the Africa Check research looked at doctors signing up with the General Medical Council in the UK and found this sharp increase.

In the five years before 2016, it disclosed that around two hundred Nigerian doctors registered in the UK annually.

And in 2017, the number jumped to four hundred and thirty-nine doctors from Nigeria who registered to work in the United Kingdom.
