The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has dismissed reports claiming that its Permanent Voters Cards can be compromised.

INEC's reaction is against the backdrop of counter accusations of cloning of PVCs between the PDP and APC in Rivers State

The Head of Voter Education at the INEC State Secretariat in Port Harcourt, EDWIN ENABOR, said the PVC has security features that make it difficult for cloning.

Speaking in an interview with correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA, ENABOR said the serial number of the PVC cannot be manipulated.

He observed that those who are engaged in the production of counterfeit PVCs are wasting their time because the smart card readers can only identify the original PVCs produced by the electoral commission.

The INEC official also disclosed that Rivers State has maintained the lead on the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise, with three hundred and fifty-three thousand voters registered so far.

Meanwhile; INEC expects to begin the second phase for the Continuous Voters Registration exercise after the Easter holidays.
