The Niger Delta Bishops Forum has dismissed criticism by the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State over its recent award to the Commander of the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS; AKIN FAKOREDE.

State Publicity Secretary of PDP, SAMUEL NWONOSIKE had alleged that the award for FAKOREDE was arranged by the All Progressives Congress.
But addressing a news conference in Port Harcourt on the issue, the President of the Niger Delta Bishops Forum, Archbishop JULIUS EDIWE advised the PDP against dragging ministers of God into politics.
Archbishop EDIWE said the award for the SARS Commander was based on the goods work of the security outfit, adding that FAKOREDE had been selected for the honour two years before the eruption of the dispute between the unit and the Rivers State Government.
The Vice President of the Niger Delta Bishops Forum, Bishop MOSES OMOKHUASLE advised the Rivers State Government to focus on the development, just as he called on SARS Commander to check the excesses of his men.
