Rivers government pledges safety commitment of travelers on the waterways

The Rivers State Government has pledged its commitment to the safety and security of travelers on the waterways and communities.

The Deputy Governor, Doctor IPALIBO HARRY BANIGO made the pledge during a security meeting with the Navy Commander and Officer in Charge of the Marine Police in Bonny.

Doctor HARRY BANIGO who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Security, Elder EMMANUEL IBAMA, said reports of boat hijacking, stealing of outboard engines, kidnapping and sea piracy on the waterways and rural communities are worrisome and must be seriously tackled.
The meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt was also attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport; representatives of Bonny kingdom and the Local Government Caretaker Chairman
