National Assembly to seals $1.1m deal withfor capacity development for lawmakers across West Africa.

Ahead of the resumption of plenary today 

by the National Assembly, the Senate 

President, BUKOLA SARAKI, has confirmed a 

deal of one point one million US dollars 

grant for capacity development for 

lawmakers across West Africa.


The deal was signed by the leadership of 

the National Assembly and the African 

Capacity Building Foundation, while the 

project grant is to be executed through 

the National Institute of Legislative 

Studies.


According to a statement released by his 

Chief Press Secretary, Senator SARAKI, who 

doubles as Chairman of the Governing 

Council of the Institute, signed the 

agreement on behalf of the National 

Assembly.


Senator SARAKI said the NILS-CAP-Two 

Project targets capacity development in 

ECOWAS countries and the ECOWAS 

Parliament.


He said the objective is to facilitate the 

implementation of intra-regional trade 

among ECOWAS member states and to ensure 

effective financial oversight in the sub-

region. 


The statement also quoted the Executive 

Secretary of African Capacity Building 

Foundation, Professor EMMANUEL NNADOZIE, 

saying the implementation of the project 

would further give a regional outlook to 

the National Institute of Legislative 

Studies.
