UPTH Health Professionals heading for showdown over appointments.
The National Union of Allied Health Professionals and the management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital are locked in a showdown that could paralyze activities within the institution.
Our correspondent gathered that the bone of contention is the appointment of a pathologist to head the Tuberculosis Unit of the Laboratory Section of the Department of Medical Microbiology.
To this end, the National Union of Allied Health Professionals has issued a twenty-one-day ultimatum to the UPTH Management to reverse the appointment or face industrial action.
The Chairman of the union, AWOEBI KRISTIEN disclosed during a media briefing that the laboratory scientists had secured a favourable judgment affirming their autonomy in the health system.
