The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has heard more revelations in the trail of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief OLISA METUH.Another prosecution witness was called in today in continuation of METUH’s prosecution over a seven-count charge of money laundering.
BALEH NDAM who is a legal officer in the Office of the National Security Adviser, told the court that Destra Investment Limited owned by METUH was listed among seventy-eight companies that received monies from former NSA, SAMBO DASUKI without contracts. However, METUH’s counsel, ONYECHI IKPEAZU, raised objection to the witness claim, arguing that e-payment mandates were not admissible in court because they were computer generated.Counsel to the EFCC, SYLVANUS TAHIR, countered the objection, which he described as highly misconceived. The prosecution argued that all documents tendered before the court were relevant in the case. Our correspondent reports that Justice ABANG OBONG had stood down METUH’s trial for about an hour after prison officials failed to produce him in court on time. You will recall that two prosecution witnesses were called in yesterday, including NICOLE ARARUME, who told the court how she received two million dollars in cash from OLISA METUH at his residence in Abuja for onward transfers. The PDP spokesman is still unable to meet his bail conditions, which was granted in the sum of four hundred million naira and two sureties for two hundred million naira each. The court also ordered that the sureties must be residents of Abuja and must be owners of landed property around Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory. Also; the defence lawyer yesterday filed an application, praying the court to vary the bail conditions of his client, which was deferred to Thursday Wednesday for consideration.OLISA METUH is also facing another set of two-count charge of criminal destruction of evidence and property of the EFCC before an Abuja High Court, for which he was granted bail in the sum of three hundred million naira and two sureties in like sum.
